Position: Interior Finisher


Job Summary:
Independently perform all assembly, build, and final finish operations on interiors of standard and complex custom cases. Assist in troubleshooting and assisting/training other assemblers, as required. Position requires reading basic blueprints/engineering drawings and mathematical ability to calculate and plan materials for final assembly
operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review job documentation and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and special instructions as to the final finishing and assembly of cases. Perform complex operations to install handles, drawers, corner pockets, trap doors and other special features on cases, requiring diversified parts and details. Calculate and make adjustments, as required, to fit and align interior parts. Most tolerances are fairly liberal and occasionally tight and difficult to align. May be required to re-cut interior parts for proper fitting.

Plan, set up, locate, and position cases on bench to perform sequential operations, following accepted trade procedures. File and deburr case parts as required. Check work for proper functioning and visually inspect for defects or damage, such as scratches and dents, to maintain quality standards. Troubleshoot malfunctions or assembly problems and make approved adjustments to meet specifications and quality standards. Work is subject to inspection for adherence to tolerances, specifications, and general quality standards. Assist engineering department by providing input to required adjustments to work orders or new product development,
as required.

Use hand and machine tools such as, but not limited to, automatic drills, riveters, files, air guns, etc. Assembly work requires concentrated visual attention, eye/hand coordination and finger dexterity. Mental acuity is required in mathematical calculations for proper alignment and fitting of interior parts. In addition, work requires moderate physical demand such as reaching, bending, applying pressure with hands, and lifting or moving materials up to 60 pounds.

Employee works independently on standard products and may request general guidance and approval for specialized procedures for complex products. Occasionally required to train and assist other case builders to meet production schedules.

Detect and report defective materials, improper operations, faulty equipment and unusual conditions to supervisory personnel. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
